A Table for All

We serve the hungry in the name of Jesus Christ, offering food, prayer, and kindness, trusting God to supply what we lack.

Our Mission

Hospitality as a Sacred Act

St. Herman's Table is a ministry rooted in the Orthodox Christian tradition of almsgiving — the sacrificial giving of time, money, and resources, to those in need. Every week, we gather to prepare and share meals with our neighbors who are hungry, lonely, or simply in need of a warm place to belong.

We are not a program. We are a community — volunteers, donors, and guests — all sitting at the same table, all equal before God.

"I will not abandon you as orphans. I will come to you."

— John 14:18

How We Serve

Meals

Nourishment for Body and Soul

Every Thursday evening, our volunteers gather to prepare a hot, wholesome meal — soup, bread, and whatever the season offers. We serve without questions, without conditions. Every person who comes is welcomed to the table.

A Place to Belong

Hunger is not only of the stomach. Many who come to us are lonely, displaced, or simply unseen. We strive to offer more than food — we offer presence, conversation, and the knowledge that they are not forgotten.

Service

Rooted in the Orthodox Tradition

Our ministry draws from the ancient Christian practice of philoxenia — love of the stranger. Inspired by St. Herman of Alaska, who gave his life in service to the poor and forgotten, we seek to carry that same spirit into our own time and place.

"I am your friend, and I wish to be your friend and servant."

— St. Herman of Alaska, to the Aleut people

St. Herman left the comfort of his monastery to live among the poor and forgotten on Kodiak Island, Alaska. His life of humble service is the heart of this ministry.
